Muzak at CDH's Cancer Care Center.
« on: April 23, 2015, 12:00:39 PM »
I'm here for my quarterly blood draw and chat with my Oncologist.

First song when I got here was Etta James "At Last".*.
 Then Lynrd Skynrd's " Freebird"

Now it's some modern folkish song, of some guy pining for a girl.

I guess they are tuned into the eclectic channel.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

As I sit in outpatient infusion with a minor cacophony of other folks TV sound tracks, loud to overcome the apparent lack of hearing aids, I have to think "Count your blessings, it could be worse!"
Gee, I'd love to see your data!

Are they trying to get people to slit their wrists?

I not-very-fondly remember the *expletive deleted*ing muzak system at one of my old parks in the lobby/gift shop/restaurent. Doddering old park manager who was a former hotel manager insisted that we had to play it, and the song rotation was the same for 10 months out of the year...but starting in mid November and not going off until Mid January was the christmas music.

I came very close to going Office Space on the system setup, and frequently entertained homicidal thoughts.

Remember, it's bad enough for someone visiting a place, but it really sucks for those who have to work there.

Makes me wonder about the convenience stores that play opera music in order to repel "urban youts."
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

BTDT, but then they installed new TV's, with a earbuds plug.   Then they gave everyone a set with a plastic baggie to store them.  There was also a file cabinet, where you could store them if you didn't want to haul them back and forth.

And for the record, I like both Etta James (the lady had some pipes) and Skynrd.
