Our Solicitor General told the Supremes he would not rule out the possibility that churches, and other religious institutions, may lose tax-exempt status, if they won't violate their faith.

That's a little odd. I thought that telling people "No" was one of those things religious groups were expected to do.  =|

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

The 1st amendment as recognized in modern times by liberals
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

But, but, I was assured by many, including some here, that there was no way that would happen if the courts redefined marriage to include same sex couples!
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

But but, we were promised that would never happen!

Don't worry, it'll be clarified that we aren't. Just that to keep things as they are we can't "discriminate".

Churches in Denmark and formerly Great Britain are being forced already

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

The Law Of Merited Impossibility

Quote
The Law Of Merited Impossibility is an epistemological construct governing the paradoxical way overclass opinion makers frame the discourse about the clash between religious liberty and gay civil rights. It is best summed up by the phrase, “It’s a complete absurdity to believe that Christians will suffer a single thing from the expansion of gay rights, and boy, do they deserve what they’re going to get.”

It sure looks like the homosexualist lobby is making itself a domestic enemy of the COTUS.

It it just me, or does anyone else think the craziness has been accelerating sharply lately?

I think part of the problem is no one is publicly slapping the craziness down.

I heard a phrase recently:  Empowering the heckler's veto.

2. Media Coverage of Father Patrick Henry Reardon’s Refusal to Require or Sign Civil Marriage Liscenses – Terry Mattingly, 4/23/15

One guy (EO priest) who's just not going to sign them.

Your link takes me to a page that says nothing, and has no links to an article that says something.

I'm already facing the prospect that I won't be able to renew my status as a justice of the peace next time around (which will be January of 2017). When I was sworn in in 2013 I asked about whether or not I am required to perform same-sex marriages and I was told "no." I now don't trust that answer. In fact, I may not wait until my term expires. If the state has changed it's position to require that JPs perform weddings that violate their conscience, I'll resign immediately.

It looks like the link has been fixed, or at least it works for me. Issues Etc. has some great content, once you wade through all the infant baptism and "real presence" stuff.  (:P to our Lutheran, inter alia, friends)

Not withstanding anyone's beliefs why should anyone be forced to do anything that goes against their moral and/or religious beliefs.  There is always going to be at least one other person who will agree with whatever BS you want to believe or just doesn't care and will do your ceremony, bake your cake, take your pictures or supply any other service you want or need.

There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Because then the icky conservatives wouldn't be diverse. They're going to tolerate us into being just as diverse as they are. A uniform diversity for all; no exceptions.

Did Bill Clinton sign the Federal Religious Freedom Act?

So if a Church "leader" has to perform Gay Marriages, do the Imam's at Mosques have to perform a Jewish wedding if asked?   If they say "No" would that be the same discriminition ??

Just throwing that our there....

You could ask, but liberals only want to push Christians or Jews around.  They never want to mess with others.

Apparently some believe the concept of the separation of church and state didn't mean what they said it meant, meaning that because the word church is first and state is 2nd, it really only means the church needs to stay out of the business of the state, but not the reverse.  Really!

FTFY.

This sort of tool is used to beat on lower-case "o" orthodox Christians as a way to undermine the Christian majority and Western Civ.  Jews will get a pass, even upper-case "O" Orthodox Jewish institutions who are on the same page as lower-case "o" orthodox Christians.  We already know that the laws will not be applied objectively, but will be applied depending on who is the target.

So if you have groups of church denominations- at this point its pretty much a few lutheran synods, the Catholics (if they don't waver), and some independent Baptist churches- that refuse to marry gays, will they be raided by JBTs from the IRS or possibly DHS?
THAT will make life really interesting in the place formerly known as America. :O
