Every cat I've ever owned has been black, with two exceptions. And one of the, the current one is black and white.
Then again, my relationship is black and white too, so I see things differently than a lot of people.
I did read shelters were not giving black cats up for adoption during Halloween because they didn't want them going to cults, etc for sacrifices.
