To put it mildly, Sikorsky HQ is filled with dead wood. Super expensive dead wood, because it's based in CT. Their operations elsewhere tend to be hugely profitable, which HQ internally snakes to make their numbers look good. Being divested from UTC is the best thing that could happen to it on the long term. The CT management is mostly concerned with empire building and the corporate religion (6S, 5S plus safety). The CT labor is union, and aggressive unionists at that, Teamsters When I was working at Sikorsky, I believe at least a couple of unionists or union sympathizers actively sabotaged aircraft being built by non-union people with FOD. It could have gotten people killed if the Quality folks weren't on their game.
Sikorsky needs to shed its lifers, move operations entirely out of CT (and away from union controlled states), and drop the price of their aircraft to stay competitive. While admittedly, they make the best helicopters on the planet, Sikorsky is stupid because their margins are too high. High margins allow you to be stupid.
I could write a book on how screwed up they are.
