Lines from songs

Sorry if this has been done but I couldn't find it with a search. I'm looking for your favorite lines from somgs. Not all the lyrics, just a couple lines. I guess I should include poetry here since it's so close.

Mine is from I take my chances by Mary Chapin carpenter. Heard it again this weekend and this caught my ear:

Now some people say that you shouldn't tempt fate
And for them I would not disagree
But I never learned nothing from playing it safe
I say fate should not tempt me
The feral government is the only group in the known universe that can promulgate a 26-page form that collects two pages of information accompanied by 24 pages of incoherent instructions, and proclaim at the bottom of page 26 that the document complies with the paperwork reduction act.

"he cried like a baby, he screamed like a panther, in the middle of the night.
Because, when you think it's all over, it has only begun"

It's the chorus to something, it keeps popping into my head when I'm on the bike. I can't work out what it is. I think I heard it used on a drama called "Edge of darkness" when I was younger. Been bugging me for years, I'd love to hear the rest of it. Any ideas?

A few sobering statements on the world we see around us today:

when children have to play inside so they don't disappear
while private eyes solve marraige lies cause we don't talk for years

People know this world is a wreck
Were sick and tired of being politically correct
I see through it now but I didnt at first
The hipocrites made it worse and worse
Be kind as you speak to others , they may be facing demons you are unaware of...

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Alright, so I'll date myself.

This is from Bob Dylan's: IT'S ALL RIGHT MAW, I'M ONLY BLEEDIN'.

Disillusioned words like bullets bark
As human Gods aim for their mark
Make everything from toy guns that spark
To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark
It's easy to see without lookin' too far
That not much is REALLY sacred.

That's stuck with me since 1962 (give or take).

BillBlank,
If you like that, you need to run out and get Red Headed Stranger.  It's the album with that song on it.  It's sort of a concept album that is quite captivating from beginning to end.  It's easily my favorite Willie Nelson, and growing up in Central Texas I heard plenty of Willie.  I had it on record, cassette, and CD.  It's especially good to drink to after parting ways with an ex, or other times when your down and want to wallow in it for a little while. \crt360 gives it five stars\

As for my favorite song lines, I'm still thinking.
For entertainment purposes only.

I'm kind a songwriter junkie, so I have more favorite lines than I can easily count.  But there are a few that never fail to amaze me.  So let's see...

From the Drive By Truckers:
I ain't got no political agenda
Ain't got no message for the youth of America
'cept "Wear a rubber and be careful who you screw"

Townes Van Zandt:
Well, to meet is like springtime
And to loves like the summer
Her brown eyes shone for nobody but me
Then autumn forever, the fool come a fallin
And the rain turned to freezin inside of me.

And Tom Waits:
Sky is red
And there world's on fire
And the corn is taller than me
The dog is tied
To a wagon of rain
And the road is as wet as the sea
And sometimes the music from a dance
Will carry across the plains
And the places that I'm dreaming of
Do they dream only of me?
There are places where they never sleep
And the circus never ends
So I will take the Marley Bone Coach
And whistle down the wind

My favorite lyricist is Warren Zevon. One line that sticks in my head is "little old lady got mutilated late last night. Werewolves of London again." Not the sentiment behind it but just how it rolls around in your mouth when you sing it.

Doobie brothers
Was up all night I could not sleep
The whiskey that I drank was cheap
With shaking hands I went and I lit up my last cigarette

Steve Earle
Well it ain't the first close call I ever had
I'm sure you already know
I had some help from you Lord and the devil himself
It's been strictly touch and go

Yeah but who in the hell am I talkin' to
there ain't no one here but me
Then he cocked both his pistols and he spit in the dirt
and he walked out in the street

Another Dylan fan here:

Well, she don't make me nervous, she don't talk too much.
She walks right Bo Diddley, and she don't need no crutch.
She keeps this .410, oh, loaded with lead.

And if I go down dyin', you know she bound to put a blanket on my bed.

Astral Projection

When you dream there are no rules, people can fly, anything can happen. Sometimes there is a moment as you are awakening when you become aware of the real world around you, but you are still dreaming. You may think you can fly but you do better not try. People can fly.

I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

I could go on and on, but right now what's rolling around my head is:

I've still got sand in my shoes,
And some rhythm and blues,
To remind me of where I'm from.

I'm gonna hit the road, adios my friend
Go someplace and start all over again

Don't know where I'm going, like a gypsy out on the road
I'll go someplace and join a traveling show

Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody wants to do the crazy things we used to do before
Nobody left to run with anymore

Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore

I think Jimmy must have had the right idea
Packed his stuff and he got right out of here

I don't know where he's at but I'm sure that he's ok
Now I realize what Jimmy was trying to say

Van Halen "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love"

I been to the edge, an' there I stood an' looked down
You know I lost a lot of friends there baby, I got no time to mess around
Mmmm, so if you want it got to bleed for it baby
Yeah, got to got to bleed baby
Mmmm, you got to got to bleed baby
Hey, got to got to bleed baby

Not really my favorite song lyrics, but it has just been stuck in my head since my NDE (Near Death Experience) 6 weeks ago.
Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.
I meet lots of folks like this, claim to be anarchist but really they're just liberals with pierced genitals. - gunsmith
