An Urbandale teacher was the subject of what appeared to be an attempted abduction this morning at the high school, officials said.
Superintendent Greg Robinson said a former acquaintance of the teachers pulled up in a van in the high school parking lot, 7111 Aurora Ave., and tried to pull her into the vehicle sometime before 7:30 a.m. Bystanders were able to assist the teacher, and the act was unsuccessful, Robinson said.
We were able to thwart it and police are on the scene, Robinson said.
Robinson stressed that the act was by someone she knew and is an isolated incident.
It wasnt a random act, he said. I dont want anyone to think its not safe or kids were at risk,
The Urbandale Police Department is investigating.
