In that video, the oriental gal said that any "non-white" ethnicity is a minority, and she included Hispanics.
Why are Hispanics automatically assumed/declared/classified to be non-white? My late wife was from a Latin American country. As far as I know she was considered to be "Hispanic" by the U.S. government ... and she was incensed. She said in no uncertain terms that she was white, and never mind the "federal definition."
What, exactly, does "Hispanic" mean? To me it means "from Spain." Which means that probably 98% or more of "Hispanics" in the U.S. aren't Hispanic at all. And Spain (along with Portugal) is, last I knew, still part of Europe. Spain was part of the Roman Empire. The Spanish language evolved from Latin alongside French, Portuguese, and Italian. So why are rench and Italians considered to be white, but Spaniards (and their South American brethren) are ... something else?
I R confoozed.
