I gave up my non-resident LTC years ago because it was too expensive to maintain ($100/year last I checked). Now if I'm traveling through Mass I lock everything in the trunk and drive 65 in the right lane.

True. It's actually much easier for a non-resident to get an unrestricted license for Massachusetts than it is for a resident, but "Taxachusetts" makes the non-residents pay dearly. The non-resident licenses are only valid for one year, while resident licenses are good for six years. The cost is $100 -- for six years if you're a resident, for ONE year if you're a non-resident.

Ayuh.  If I lived ten miles to the north in Sproingfeld it would be cheaper for me to maintain both CT and NH non-resident permits.  But car insurance in MA is a hot mess (SWMBO does claims for a living and I was a MA resident for six years).  Taxes in CT are comparable but I'd rather not have to deal with MA car insurance ever again.

Oh, and if I was a MA resident again I'd at least be able to load my "pre-ban" mags to full capacity.
