Do I want this? Currently that is zero'd out in my coverage. I have $100,000 per occupant/$300,000 per accident for uninsured and underinsured motorists.
My (probably flawed) understanding of what the medical payments are for is my insurance company will immediately start covering medical expenses (up to the policy limit of course) while fault is being determined so I am not out of pocket on those expenses in the interim. Sort of a loan against whichever insurance company pays out in the end. Montana is not one of the states where that coverage is mandatory.
Financially it would be kind of nice, if I'm laid up the scrambling needed to do move things around to get liquidity to cover major medical bills would be a big hassle.
