So you apparently need to take English Comp 101 for a CCW permit in this MA town. I wonder how that affects diversity? I'm more shocked at the permit cost.

Well the cost is the class needed to be considered for the permit.

Wonder if they required an essay before voting?

They have to do a FIVE DAY class? Yeah, only rich people need apply.

I am so glad Texas doesn't allow every little town to set their own rules. There are a lot of conservatives down here, but there are also lots of nosy busy bodies in local politics that would make some towns tough to live in (or near).

When Ohio instituted the CCW permit laws, they had already put state preemption in place. They also went a step further and allow applicants to seek the permit in their home county or a neighboring county, which pretty much eliminates situations like this where one anti has the ability to counteract the laws.

I'd write them an essay...

It would focus mostly on why guns are a necessity when the government is better at harassing the law-abiding than punishing the guilty.

There's always Chelmsford, or wander a few miles north and be done with it. A non-resident MA permit may be good for only one year but there's no added BS.

Thinking about this, I'd be really interested in reading an essay from someone that is approved and one from someone who is rejected. Curious to see what content his highness finds to be appropriate, or as has been hinted at, if this is more of a way of excluding those who can't afford it...I mean who can't write articulately.
