Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Yes- 'Anthem'

Anthem is a song on Rush's Fly by Night album.

Lyrics included:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj1HacZ4ht4

But yeah, lots of Randian influences:  Freewill, The Trees, Red Barchetta to name a few...

Yes, that. Is there actually anyone who read 100% of "Atlas Shrugged" without skimming through either a long diatribe or "relationship issues" section? "Atlas Shrugged" absolutely contains some powerful prose on liberty and freedom -- that could be condensed to about 50 pages.

I have.

To me, the cranking on mine is pretty effortless, at least on the coarse setting. Maybe if someone has arthritis or something, it would be more difficult for them." - Ben

I loved AS, but I've only read it the once. Don't know if I'm up to another go.

And I like the movies, even as low budget and pared down as they are.

Well the internet is weird.  I had this up on my phone and it kept telling me there were no replies.  Now on a real computer it shows tons.  Glad you guys liked it.

Years ago I made point of finishing any book I started.  These days I don't feel that need, but when I did there were only 3 books that defeated me.  Atlas Shrugged was one of them.

Wasn't Anthem one of them that supposedly had devil stuff when played backwards?

Red Barchetta makes sense.  I hadn't considered the others.  I know Neil Peart (drummer) wrote most of the lyrics for those songs.

Once you've made your way through every "begat" in the Bible more than once, Rand is child's play.

Wish my cousin that memorized the Bible was still around; he could give you a count of "begat"s with about ten seconds of thought.

He was sort of like a short, bald perl script in loafers.

never watched 'Firefly', and have no idea of who Jayne, Mal, Zoe are.

I have read all of Ayn Rand's books though, and rather liked them.      :)

You need to correct that deficiency.  And you'll kick yourself for not watching earlier... ;)

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

If you have Amazon Prime you can watch it for free.

I showed my kiddos a PG version (Firefly is a PG13-ish show) and they loved it too.  Daughter named her pink Crickett "Vera" after one particular episode.

That's nuts.    I've never watched the show.  Don't even have cable or satellite.   Trolling?  Risible!      :)

No, all the speechifying needs to be done by the least educated and dumbest sounding person.  I picture Mongo from Blazing Saddles.

"...got to do with where choo-choo go..."
Liberals believe that a woman, found raped and strangled with her own pantyhose is morally superior to a women with a dead rapist at her feet and a gun in her hands.
