I bought a very firm king sized pocketed coil mattress with a memory foam top about a month ago, I sleep like a rock on it.

I tried the memory foam mattress in a couple motel rooms, hated it. Found a memory foam top mattress at a motel, sleep good, why I got it.

I still think the best mattress is a futon mattress on a wood floor, but wife thinks other wise.

I like my memory foam pillow, but not enough to spend $6K on a mattress

I wouldn't spend $6K either, which is why I bought the $450 one. :)

I have a memory foam contour pillow from Ikea.

Best $24 I ever spent. I may go there for a mattress.

I got mine for ~$200 through Groupon.

Now now, I'm sure those are just impressions from fleshflashlights.

Never though about it, but I guess the handcuffs, gun and short sword under mine could lead to some questions at moving time.

We just pulled the trigger on an 11 inch memory foam/latex hybrid mattress from Costco: the Sleep Science Carina.  It is a medium mattress suitable for back, side and stomach sleepers so we figure it will cover all options. It is on sale for the last two weeks of the month: the $ 900 queen size mattress is selling for $ 650.  We will use it to replace the old innerspring mattress while we research adjustable bases.  After we find a base, we will use that to replace the box spring and bed frame.  The great Costco return policy was a factor in our decision.

It was easier to buy a new car than a new mattress.  Our eyes just started to glaze over after a while.  Interesting how you read the reviews and see people complaining that the mattress is too firm while others are complaining the mattress is too soft.

So the new mattress arrived, and we have it unwrapped and inflating on the foundation as I type.  Not much in the way of outgassing, we thought, and it feels pretty comfortable when lying down upon it as a test.  It may be fully inflated by tonight, and we can sleep on it. According to the tag, it was made last month, and it inflated to full size almost immediately upon unwrapping it.

Thus "sleep number" type beds, because some like them firmer and some like softer.
