From reading their explanation letter, it passes the smell test. Their side of the story is that Hillary and others were on a site visit. That either always was or became a campaign event for the Cleveland Industrial Innovation Center. Their company was just one of the companies in the place, but may have gotten a higher profile for being a defense contractor. The owner is a Dem, but allegedly keeps his personal life separate from the company. They acknowledged dipping their toe in politics bit them hard, and likely will cause their company a lot of problems.
The internet jihad is the internet jihad. Right wing, left wing, the point of a mob is to destroy. Truth, nuances, fairness, justice are foreign to mobs. Rarely but some times, by accident or incidentally, the victim of a mob is actually guilty and deserves it. Usually not. There's a lovely feeling of no accountability, power and righteous anger when being in a mob.
Is Team Wendy lying? I have few doubts that they're regretting posting those photos. Their marketing or PR person hopefully is fired by now. That's what PR/Marketing and ESPECIALLY social media folks miss. The point is that most people are decent number beings, but there's always some group that are as well behaved as chimps on a steady diet of daytime television and methamphetamine. Social media PR/marketing folks should understand that their SOLE job is to keep those angry chimps mobs at bay. Could be anti-Trump chimps. Could be anti-Hillary chimps.
Politics isn't the only lightning rod, but it sure as hell is an obvious one. Team Wendy might be actually guilty of being polite to a politician, and also might be guilty of having a Democrat owning a company. I know, both are pretty shocking accusations. Terrible to consider, but they must be.
Regardless of the accusations, they have been found guilty in the court of angry chimp mobs, and that is all that matters. They were stupid for offending the right wing version of Social Justice Warriors. Will it kill the company? Eh. They make ueber expensive helmets mostly from government entities. Few other folks can or would drop a grand on a helmet. Probably will take a hit, especially from cop purchases. But unless they're already on thin margins, probably not a lethal one.
Actually, this drives me to confess my sins as well.
I must confess... I have committed the triple sins of being a Democrat, owning a business and have been polite to politicians before. Yes, I! Surely, I am deserving of as much scorn! Such anger! Must I do the walk of atonement, marched through streets while RW-SJW purists chant "shame! shame!" ? Walk on hot coals ? Suffer through one viewing of Zardoz?
