I switched over to all LED lighting in my house gradually, over the course of a year or so.  Approximately half of them are FEIT, and I've yet to have one fail.

My Cree 3 way LED bulbs arrived today! The box looked fairly unscathed. The packing material wasn't what I would have wanted to see but these aren't glass incandescent bulbs after all and they look Ok. It'll be fine, right?

Install bulb one: low, low, off, off. Crap! Try bulb 2: low, low, off, off. Crap2!!

Take bulbs to back bedroom where 2nd 3 way lamp needing bulb resides. Install bulb one: low, low, off, off. Crap3!!! Try bulb 2: low, low, off, off. Crap4!!!!

I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!

Yeah, at 2 bulbs acting identically I was initially inclined to blame your lamp.  With the second though...

Did you inspect the lights?  Do they have the 'bump' for the extra light?

Yup, Center contact and secondary ring contact then ground through the socket threads.
