Online Computer Diagnosis ...
« on: November 16, 2016, 12:21:57 PM »

Is there a reliable computer diagnosis program online ... My Lattitude 3550 w/ WIN10 was working perfectly prior to the anniversary update in September.  Now it freezes constantly.  I have 8 mb RAM ... would more RAM make it work again ?

Anybody got a link ... ?

I assume you mean 8 GB, not mb. 8 GB should be fine. I don't know what the problem is, but increasing RAM won't solve it.

First thing I'd do is update the video drivers. Direct from the MFG's website. Don't use the one Windows Updates will try to give you from the Device Manager it may not be the latest.

60% chance of success.

Try that and get back to us.
I promise not to duck.

Strongly recommend against any of the programs purporting to do automatic diagnosis. They seem to be uniformly scams. Other members may have a different experience.

Dulls have a built in diagnostic, accessible from the F12 menu on bootup.  (I'm sitting here babysitting one running now.)

I wouldn't trust any web based diagnostic.

more RAM?

Maybe.  But try running this first:http://www.howtogeek.com/222532/how-to-repair-corrupted-windows-system-files-with-the-sfc-and-dism-commands/.

And, yeah, check Dell's support site specific to your model for driver and firmware updates.

That's not true. Sometimes they're malware AND scams.

Suggestions are good.
sfc /scannow sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
Event Viewer might help you. Might not.

Personally, older I get, the more I favor "nuke it from orbit and let the Gods sort it all out" of just reinstalling the operating system.
