Knives and backpockets (Little but not horribly graphic)
« on: December 13, 2016, 12:46:36 PM »
Everyone loves a good folder. But please ensure they're maintained (not too loose or stiff), positioned and whatnot so they won't accidentally open. Also, I never quite understood the logic of carrying one in your back pocket.

Guy had one in his back pocket, it opened because loose, went to sit down in a golf cart, and got a CRKT 3 inches into his body before his pelvic bone managed to stop it. Much hilarity from the ER docs and nurses.
"Rev, your picture is in my King James Bible, where Paul talks about "inventors of evil."  Yes, I know you'll take that as a compliment."  - Fistful, possibly highest compliment I've ever received.

Ouch.

Maintenance is also a factor. I have a lockback folder that I've been carrying for fifteen years. Recently, I noticed that the lock didn't lock, which could potentially be dangerous. The company still makes the same model, so I bought a replacement. Then I had an epiphany, and looked more closely. Sure enough, the space the blade opens into was packed with fifteem years of pocket lint, which prevented the last couple of degrees of opening rotation that allowed the lock to snap into position. I cleaned out the lint, and it now works as it's supposed to.

I would actually be interested in the pics the ER staff took as they were laughing.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

See what happens when you wear white after labor day?
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I've done the back pocket thing from time to time in jeans, partly to get it out of the way when I need to reach into the front pocket, or to not have it digging into a lady's stomach while dancing close, but not in anything loose enough that the knife would be able to turn 90 degrees like that.

At times in the field I've back pocket carried my Benchmade Griptillian in the back pocket to clear up space in my hip pocket.  But of course a Benchmade blade isn't going anywhere...

Learned a long time ago not to keep stuff in my back pocket...

Screwdriver, newish car, got in, tore seat.

Which seat?  Car's or yours?
