AR Prices
« on: May 15, 2017, 05:03:57 AM »
Are dropping like stones.

Got another CDNN e-mail today.

DPMS complete rifle (16" barrel) with flip-up sights and whole bunch of extras $399 (after rebate)
Colt M4A3 16" Patrolman (A3 removable carry handle with A2 front sight) $499 (after $150 rebate)

Complete uppers with lower parts kits from $389

I'm beginning to hear a giant sucking sound on my checking account...
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

At the last show, multiple vendors had Ruger ARs for less than $600 (closer to $500).

Cabelas in this area has Anderson lowers for $50.

I've seen builders kits in the $329 range recently.  Less than $400, all in, easy.

You can thank trump.
I talked to a friend that works for springfield armory this weekend. He said they were gping crazy with orders and production anticipating president Hillary. With trump winning, the market has cooled considerably.

A local gun shop has been advertising Ruger AR's for $499 for the last couple months.

If I didn't already have too many 223 AR's, I would get one or two.

Sales of just about all things gun related have hit a 9 year low.

That's about what I imagined the wholesale value of these rifles were worth all along.... with the expiration of the AWB in 2004, there was just about enough demand to keep the prices high until Obama took office, which only kept the demand up.

Yep. They expected a surge just like when Obama got elected. Even though he didn't really touch anything firearm related. With AWB being a 'signature' Clinton achievement, they should they'd have a glorious "pre-ban" surging prices. Now there's an insane glut. Doesn't help that everyone and their brother makes their own AR's now. Market is saturated like no tomorrow.

I expect a number of shops to merge, close or get out of making their own AR's. There cannot be enough margin to make it worth while.

My problem is I end up storing it in the berm at the range and my spent brass bucket.

Yeah, I have a few, too, but I don't want another AR right now.  Maybe a PCC.

Probably whatever PSA has on sale this weekend. I can't say that for certain, but it'll be close.

Otherwise Arfcom has a deals/sale thread in their AR15 section.

Just the receiver?  or an assembled upper?

For just the receiver whoever has an Anderson on sale this weekend.

If you want something assembled, best value is going to depend on what you're doing with it,and what components you want.  Absolutely cheapest firearm that will function is probably one of PSA's daily deals. Or what's on sale at Primary Arms.  They have some Radical Firearms uppers under $200.

=D Looking at their site, Primary Arms will also give you a free upper and lower receiver if you buy a Giessele SSA Trigger.  "Buy our trigger an you can have the gun to put it in for free."

Either works.

Definitely works! I'm not sure how many AR15s I could assemble out of the stuff on hand but at least 3.

Now if only someone could make decently priced Sig mags. I prefer to have a minimum of 40 mags for anything I fire regularly. Easy for an Uzi or AR, at under $10 per, even for OEM or top tier.. At $40 or more, that's not practical for my Sigs.

I recently put the Geissele SSA-E trigger in a precision rifle I put together for my son. Pricey, but worth it. The trigger replaced a RRA NM trigger- there is absolutely no comparison between the triggers. The RRA will probably go into one of my carbines.

I have that upper.  I like it and would buy it again.  I did change the gas block to an adjust able one as I intend to get the reciprocating parts as light as possible on this gun.  The factory one worked fine though.

What model Sigs?  The Sig pro shop often has a box of used mags at a discount.  I can grab some next time I them there.

Good to know! I was a bit worried as it was a bit too good looking of a deal.

I just bought an AR with full Magpul fittings for $499. Hard to pass up the prices right now--I don't think they can get much lower.
