Great - Puerto Rico is looking for a bailout
« on: June 09, 2017, 02:33:55 PM »
https://www.wsj.com/articles/puerto-rico-to-vote-sunday-on-statehood-1497026520

Looks like the current administration of Puerto Rico thinks the solution to their problems is to let us, the American taxpayers, pay for the mess they're created.

I think we should just cut them loose. Why do we need to maintain Puerto Rico as a "protectorate"? Who or what are we protecting them against?

well, der.
Obviously we are protecting them against the threat of godless communist oppression.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Cut them loose.

They aren't anywhere close to becoming a state, not that I want them to even if they are.  The island is slightly better than most third-world countries, but not as nice as Detroit.

Eight of the last nine governors in Puerto Rico have been Democrats.

IS IT ANY WONDER they're broke?
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Let them fall victim to the Communist virus?

Haven't they already fallen?

This. If we want to stick it to the commies, let them have PR.

Puerto Rico is much closer to Venezuela than it is to the U.S. Why don't they vote to become part of Venezuela? Then they can be part of a government with a similar outlook. Plus, they wouldn't have to change their official language.
