BREAKING: The Supreme Court sides with the Trump Administration on the Alien Enemies Act.

Tonight’s decision is a landmark victory for the rule of law. An activist judge in Washington, DC does not have the jurisdiction to seize control of President Trump’s authority to conduct foreign policy and keep the American people safe.

The Department of Justice will continue fighting in court to make America safe again.

This is the thing that the radical left simply doesn't comprehend, and why Kamala got her thrashing. Trump connects with regular people, and not as "royalty who is liked by the commoner". He connects like he's their friend or coworker. Or just the guy at the bar next to you that you struck up a conversation with (or he with you).

I still recall seeing a video during the campaign. Some podcast super popular with young men that I'd never heard of, but has like millions of subscribers, rode on his plane with him. The video showed them all joking and laughing, talking about "regular guy things" like they were all long time buddies hanging out in the mancave. Oh, and they were on their way to an MMA thing.

Like him or hate him, Trump knows how to connect with both billionaires and the guy who drives the trash truck, as if he's one of them.

This is the story of America - https://www.whitehouse.gov/america250/
Quote
On July 4, 2026, America will celebrate the most important milestone in our country’s history—250 years of American Independence. “With a single sheet of parchment and 56 signatures, America began the greatest political journey in human history,” said President Trump of this momentous anniversary.

Under the President’s leadership, the Salute to America 250 Task Force (“Task Force 250”) has commenced the planning of a full year of festivities to officially launch on Memorial Day, 2025 and continue through July 4th, 2026.

The White House is engaging and encouraging the entire federal government, state and local governments, the private sector, non-profit and educational institutions, and every citizen across this country to join in this historic celebration.

Task Force 250 invites citizens to have a renewed love of American history, experience the beauty of our country, and ignite a spirit of adventure and innovation that will raise our nation to new heights over the next 250 years.

As part of these efforts, Task Force 250 is proud to present an original video series, “The Story of America.” Read more below and check back soon for more details about additional White House initiatives.

The Story of America video series:

"The White House Salute to America 250 Task Force has partnered with Hillsdale College to provide a history series that tells the remarkable story of American Independence. It will highlight the stories of the crucial characters and events that resulted in a small rag-tag army defeating the mightiest empire in the world and establishing the greatest republic ever to exist. This is the story of America. This is our shared heritage and our proud destiny that will continue to lead us to unimaginable achievements in the centuries to come."

I vaguely recall the Bicentennial, and IIRC, it was a pretty patriotic event with little protest. I have to wonder if the big 250 will be patriotic and happy, or if I'll be keeping the rifle and body armor in reach. Between it being a good round number for a repeat of 9/11, and the insane left that I don't see calming down in only a year, I can see at the very least, riots by the antifa,  BLM, transgender day of vengeance, etc. I'm certain that social media, which didn't exist in 1975, will be a major instigator.

I guess they couldn't use small enough words for some people to understand they're deporting dangerous criminals, so they had to resort to 24/7 visual aids. Tacky, but if it works...

EASING THE REGULATORY BURDEN - https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/05/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-fights-overcriminalization-in-federal-regulations/

5/9/25 - Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to ease the regulatory burden on everyday Americans and ensure no American is transformed into a criminal for violating a regulation they have no reason to know exists.

- The Order discourages criminal enforcement of regulatory offenses, prioritizing prosecutions only for those who knowingly violate regulations and cause significant harm ... Strict liability offenses, which don’t require proof of bad intent, are generally disfavored.
- The Order requires each agency, in consultation with the Attorney General, to provide to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) a list of all enforceable criminal regulatory offenses, the range of potential criminal penalties, and applicable state of mind required for liability ... Agencies must post these reports publicly and update them annually.
- Criminal enforcement of offenses not publicly posted is strongly discouraged, and the Attorney General must consider the amount of public notice provided regarding an offense before pursuing investigations or charges.
- The Order instructs agencies to explore adopting a guilty-intent standard for criminal regulatory offenses and cite the authorizing statute.
- Agencies must publish guidance on referring violations for criminal enforcement, factoring in harm, defendant’s gain, and awareness of unlawfulness.
- The Order does not apply to immigration law enforcement or national security functions.

FIGHTING OVERCRIMINALIZATION IN FEDERAL REGULATIONS:  President Trump believes that the United States is drastically overregulated and is taking action to protect Americans from unjust criminalization.

- The Code of Federal Regulations contains over 48,000 sections, stretching over 175,000 pages – far too vast for any citizen to fully comprehend, much less be criminally convicted over violations.
- Many regulations carry criminal penalties for violations, including “strict liability” offenses that do not require proof of intent, meaning Americans can be convicted without knowing they violated a rule.
- No one knows how many separate criminal offenses are contained in the Code of Federal Regulations, with at least one source estimating hundreds of thousands of such crimes.
- The situation is absurd, unjust, and ripe for abuse, enabling government officials to target unwitting individuals and weaponize regulations against them.
- Overregulation privileges large corporations, which can afford expensive legal teams to navigate complex regulatory schemes, while disadvantaging small businesses and individual Americans and stifling new market entrants.

CUTTING RED TAPE AND DISMANTLING BUREAUCRACY: Since returning to office, President Trump has worked at lightning speed to slash regulations, streamline government, reduce the Federal bureaucracy, and drain the swamp.

- President Trump established the “Department of Government Efficiency” to examine how to streamline the Federal Government, eliminate unnecessary programs, and reduce bureaucratic inefficiency.
- President Trump launched a 10-to-1 deregulation initiative, ensuring every new rule is justified by clear benefits.
- President Trump authorized buyout programs to encourage federal employees to leave voluntarily.
- President Trump simplified the Federal procurement process.
- President Trump required cost-effective commercial solutions in Federal contracts.

UPDATE: 60,000 additional files related to the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy are now online at http://archives.gov/rfk.

After the initial release of 10,000 documents three weeks ago, we searched FBI and CIA warehouses for any records not previously turned over to The National Archives. More than 60,000 documents were discovered, declassified, and digitized for public viewing. Today's release is an important step toward maximum transparency, finding the truth, and sharing the truth.

EDAN ALEXANDER, AMERICAN HOSTAGE THOUGHT DEAD, TO BE RELEASED BY HAMAS. GREAT NEWS!

I am happy to announce that Edan Alexander, an American citizen who has been held hostage since October 2023, is coming home to his family. I am grateful to all those involved in making this monumental news happen. This was a step taken in good faith towards the United States and the efforts of the mediators — Qatar and Egypt — to put an end to this very brutal war and return ALL living hostages and remains to their loved ones. Hopefully this is the first of those final steps necessary to end this brutal conflict. I look very much forward to that day of celebration!

I don't understand what foundation that move is based on.

I don't understand what foundation that move is based on.

Apparently, drug companies have been charging US consumers and insurance companies higher pricing compared to other countries for decades.  Not sure what the exact reasons were other than US/insurance companies were better able to "absorb" R&D cost to develop these drugs while other countries were billed the actual manufacturing cost of the drugs.

I have seen this at play in person in the 90s when I was working with a charity group to build churches and houses in Mexico in my 20s.  Our first stop after we crossed the border from San Diego to Tijuana was to a pharmacy where we presented long lists of prescription drugs for people back in the US.  Because drugs were so much cheaper than US, out of curiosity, I asked the pharmacists if the drugs were different and the answer was no, same exact strength and preparations (ingredients) and packaged under same brand names.

Same have been experienced by US citizens living near Canada border where they cross over to get their prescriptions filled for tiny fraction of what it costs in the US.

Today's presidential action changes that unequal pricing and spreads that R&D cost so it is now shared evenly globally, at least that is my take.

I'm well aware of this.

What I don't understand is what legal basis Trump is making this move.

What I don't understand is what legal basis Trump is making this move.

Maybe this will better explain ... https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/05/delivering-most-favored-nation-prescription-drug-pricing-to-american-patients/

Quote
Sec. 5.  Establishing Most-Favored-Nation Pricing.

(a)  Within 30 days of the date of this order, the Secretary shall, in coordination with the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy, the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and other relevant executive department and agency (agency) officials, communicate most-favored-nation price targets to pharmaceutical manufacturers to bring prices for American patients in line with comparably developed nations.

(b)  If, following the action described in subsection (a) of this section, significant progress towards most-favored-nation pricing for American patients is not delivered, to the extent consistent with law:

(i)    the Secretary shall propose a rulemaking plan to impose most-favored-nation pricing;

(ii)   the Secretary shall consider certification to the Congress that importation under section 804(j) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) will pose no additional risk to the public’s health and safety and result in a significant reduction in the cost of prescription drugs to the American consumer; and if the Secretary so certifies, then the Commissioner of Food and Drugs shall take action under section 804(j)(2)(B) of the FDCA to describe circumstances under which waivers will be consistently granted to import prescription drugs on a case-by-case basis from developed nations with low-cost prescription drugs;

(iii)  following the report issued under section 13 of Executive Order 14273 of April 15, 2025 (Lowering Drug Prices by Once Again Putting Americans First), the Attorney General and the Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission shall, to the extent consistent with law, undertake enforcement action against any anti-competitive practices identified within such report, including through use of sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act and section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, as appropriate;

(iv)   the Secretary of Commerce, and the heads of other relevant agencies as necessary, shall review and consider all necessary action regarding the export of pharmaceutical drugs or precursor material that may be fueling the global price discrimination;

(v)    the Commissioner of Food and Drugs shall review and potentially modify or revoke approvals granted for drugs, for those drugs that maybe be unsafe, ineffective, or improperly marketed;

and

(vi)   the heads of agencies shall take all action available, in coordination with the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy, to address global freeloading and price discrimination against American patients.

So it looks like this EO is going to set price controls on what can be charged for (some?) prescription drugs and give the pharma companies 6 moths to comply.  If they don't 1. additional rulemaking will follow to force compliance, 2. They an (and one presumes will) have the DOJ sicced on them, and 3. He'll let people buy prescription drugs from Canada over the internet.

I guess we'll find out if the old saw about US customers subsidizing drug costs in other countries is correct.  If it's true, and we will only pay the subsidized cost, then either other countries prices will go up or drugs will leave the market.  If it's false, and the cheaper prices are still profitable, then we really were getting bent over this whole time.

Secretary Kennedy - https://x.com/SecKennedy/status/1921975114196742548

Americans pay three times more for prescription drugs than patients in other wealthy countries. That ends now.

Today, President Trump signed an Executive Order to demand Most-Favored-Nation pricing — no more gouging Americans to subsidize foreign governments.

I stand with President Trump to say: No more middlemen. No more foreign freeloaders. No more skyrocketing drug prices.

We’re putting American patients first — and taking on Big Pharma to Make America Healthy Again.

Rapid Response 47 - https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1921942976441282659

BREAKING: @POTUS just signed an executive order implementing Most Favored Nation prescription drug pricing — which will deliver dramatically lower drug prices for the American people.

Here's what it does:

REDUCING DRUG PRICES FOR AMERICANS AND TAXPAYERS: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to bring the prices Americans and taxpayers pay for prescription drugs in line with those paid by similar nations.

— The Order directs the U.S. Trade Representative and Secretary of Commerce to take action to ensure foreign countries are not engaged in practices that purposefully and unfairly undercut market prices and drive price hikes in the United States.

— The Order instructs the Administration to communicate price targets to pharmaceutical manufacturers to establish that America, the largest purchaser and funder of prescription drugs in the world, gets the best deal.

— The Secretary of Health and Human Services will establish a mechanism through which American patients can buy their drugs directly from manufacturers who sell to Americans at a “Most-Favored-Nation” price, bypassing middlemen.

— If drug manufacturers fail to offer most-favored-nation pricing, the Order directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to: (1) propose rules that impose most-favored-nation pricing; and (2) take other aggressive measures to significantly reduce the cost of prescription drugs to the American consumer and end anticompetitive practices.

GETTING A BETTER DEAL FOR AMERICANS: President Trump is once again taking action to keep pharmaceutical manufacturers from charging Americans high drug prices while giving steep discounts to other wealthy nations.

— According to recent data, the prices Americans pay for brand-name drugs are more than three times the price other OECD nations pay, even after accounting for discounts manufacturers provide in the U.S.

— The United States has less than five percent of the world’s population, yet funds roughly 75% of global pharmaceutical profits.

— Drug manufacturers discount their products to gain access to foreign markets and then subsidize those discounts through high prices charged in America—in essence, Americans are subsidizing drug-manufacturer profits and foreign health systems, despite drug manufacturers benefiting from generous research subsidies and enormous healthcare spending by the U.S. Government.

— In his first term, President Trump took historic action to keep Medicare and seniors from paying more for drugs than economically comparable countries, which the Biden Administration rescinded before it could take effect.

— Instead of fixing this problem, the Biden Administration’s greatest achievement was to negotiate prices that were, on average, 78 percent higher than in 11 comparable countries as part of Biden’s effort to “beat Medicare.”

DELIVERING ON PROMISES TO PUT AMERICAN PATIENTS FIRST: President Trump is delivering on his promise to once again put America first by furthering efforts to get American patients and taxpayers a fair deal for prescription drugs.

— This Order builds on actions from President Trump’s first term to make progress on reducing price disparities at home and expands those efforts by including Medicaid in addition to Medicare.

— President Trump recently signed an Executive Order to take additional action to lower drug prices, including by providing massive discounts to low-income patients for lifesaving medicines, facilitating importation programs, and increasing the availability of generic and biosimilar medicines.

— President Trump is also working to make drug prices radically transparent, as he recently signed an Executive Order to build on his historic price transparency efforts undertaken during his first term.

— President Trump has been relentless in his effort to address the unfair and outrageous prices Americans pay for prescription drugs:

— President Trump: “In case after case, our citizens pay massively higher prices than other nations pay for the same exact pill, from the same factory, effectively subsidizing socialism aboard [abroad] with skyrocketing prices at home. So we would spend tremendous amounts of money in order to provide inexpensive drugs to another country. And when I say the price is different, you can see some examples where the price is beyond anything — four times, five times different.”
