A friend texted me that Tom Petty died.

Numerous reports that they pulled the plug on him in the hospital...RIP.   He put on a pretty good show.  I saw the "Damn the Torpedoes" tour.

I took my father to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers w/ Joe Walsh supporting last spring and am glad to have made the time. Both for my father, who is an old rocker and the same age as Tom Petty, and also for the opportunity to see everyone before their time was up. Full Moon Fever was one of the first cassettes I pinched from my old man's collection and soon after he also recommended that I rummage around for The Traveling Wilburys. My tastes tend to run heavier but it was a great show and a fun throwback for my father. Good times.

Okay, now I'm confused.  I Googled "Tom Petty dead" and found one of three types of articles:

1.  Tom Petty has died
2.  Tom Petty has erroniously been reported dead
3.  Tom Petty taken off of life support (but none of these articles conclude with hims actually being dead).

He's off life support there is no neurological functions, but his heart is still beating.   Going out like a true rocker.

Then I feel really bad for his family.  Went through days of that with my father before he died.  Each day was Hell...
