The Alamo was Mexico. Mexico won independence from Spain in 1821.

So the Mexicans wanted states' rights and slavery, too?

Not surprised, he's a deep old file.

I'll admit that the movie is what introduced me to the books.
Managed to read through the entire series in about a year.  Kind of bummed it ended the way it did.

Same here,  saw the movie and was hooked by the books.  Wish O'Brien would've lived a few more years,  but he was pretty much running out of Napoleonic war era timeline near the end.

I haven't read these, but the time period is the same, so they may interest you.

They were also adapted for the screen (or the small screen, anyway).

No, Mexico wanted its Texas land to stay Mexican.

Mexico abolished slavery in 1829, by the way, but granted the Texas territories an extension until 1830.

They're good light reading, and fun.   I enjoy most of Cornwell's stuff.  Thanks for mentioning though.

Might as well enjoy it and break it while we can. The SJWs are doing their best to toss all history into the dustbin anyway.

Exactly. Did you know that Donald Trump and all of the other Republicans were the only slave owners in the United States?

And that they fought the Civil War to destroy the Affordable Care Act?

The following was sent to me by a friend from college days:

Quote
I have BREAKING NEWS for all those that want to erase American history during the day or in the dead of night:

  • If you take down every statue in the United States, slavery and the American Civil War will still have happened.
  • If you have minimum wage skills now, taking down statues won't change that.
  • If you're up to your ass in college loan debt, taking down statues won't change that.
  • The nation will still be $20,000,000,000,000 in debt.
  • North Korea will still be run by a lunatic who wants you dead.
  • Radical Islamists will still want you dead.
  • People who hate you now, will still hate you, perhaps even more.
  • Soros, Obama and the Clintons will still be sleazy and corrupt and  you'll still be just a puppet for them.
  • The Department of Education will still not have educated anyone.
  • There will still be only two genders.....like it or not.
  • Hillary will still not have won the 2016 election.
  • Bernie will still be a communist charlatan.
  • There will still be opposing views outside your safe spaces....try hiding in a closet forever.
  • You'll still be accountable for your own choices, and the world will still owe you nothing.
  • Taking down all the statues will still not change the fact that Communism has been responsible for more slavery and death than the Confederacy ever was and that it was Democrats who fought to keep slavery while Republicans fought to stop it...Yes you are really dumb.
  • The removal of statues won't change the fact that the first slave owner was a black man.

So, if you have a problem with a statue of Robert E.. Lee in Virginia, but no issues with a statue of Vladimir Lenin in Seattle, we'll erect a monument to your cowardice and depict a huddled mass of frightened and drooling idiots who can't find their asses with both hands and a map.

Oh, and Donald J. Trump will STILL BE PRESIDENT!

Who was "the first slave owner"?

And that list should have included that nothing they do will kill white supremacy (which is already dead), but if they keep this up, they might manage to revive it.
