I'm still wondering about iTunes.  F___youandthehorseyourodeinon1 was rejected as "too common."

How do they know those are the passwords?  Passwords should only be stored using one-way encryption; the host should not even know the account password, just be able to encrypt the incoming password and see if they match.

I get this pop culture reference.

Incidentally,  I deleted my bookmark for XKCD after his full court press for Hillary on election day last year.  Used to really enjoy his stuff, and your reference was the first I've thought of it.  Gonna have to go see if it's gotten better.

Some of it is surprisingly relevant to various topics here, and even more often at BikeForums.

(I swear, like every three months some idiot is absolutely sure he'll be able to stick enough solar on his ebike to generate enough power to overcome the added weight and drag so he never has to pedal.  Usually someone who lives in an area with high winds and very low insolation.  All because he saw some article about a company promising to have surpassed every known limitation on solar cells and developed a 2 pound, 5 square foot flexible 300W panel that will be in production just as soon as they get their fleet of Elios.  Maybe if you have a 2-3 mile commute and the bike just sits in the sun for 8 hours while you're at work, but not going to happen for touring.)

There are ways to calculate the average angle that sunlight has to go through the atmosphere, and we find that the AVERAGE clear sky sun provides around 893 Watts/m2 (which is about 283.6 Btu/ft2/hr or very close to 100 Watts per square foot). Notice that this number is an AVERAGE value, and for a very high Sun, the numbers can be a little higher.

Trouble is that production solar modules with even 25% efficiency are 75-300% more expensive than the run-of-the-mill stuff, and getting anywhere near peak efficiency for more than a few minutes a day requires tracking, which is complex, prone to breakage, and darn near impossible on a ground vehicle.

For a fixed installation with plenty of space available, it's drastically cheaper and more reliable to just put in 10-20% more solar panels than to incorporate tracking and high efficiency materials.  That doesn't stop a lot of big showpiece projects from using trackers, but it's amusing to look at them on Google Earth and see 5-10% of their panels pointing entirely the wrong direction due to broken trackers.
