There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that I would be living in an America where the most visible portion of our culture; education, churches, government and corporate, would be demanding that I treat mental illness as normal.
