Gee,  Angeleyes,  if you can correct me you know where it came from ...why not spill the beans and stop people uselessly guessing if it came from Star Trek, Star Wars  or.... eeegads.... Lost in Space?

It's not exactly a deep cut.

"Second star to the right, and straight on 'til morning" is from Peter Pan. If it showed up in Star Trek or any other sci-fi production that came along after I abandoned watching television -- they stole it.

The only tv science fiction reference to it I can recall is from a 1974 episode of THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN,  called "Staight on 'til Morning."   Colonel Steve Austin quoted the line in the episode.
I don't believe it was ever used in Star Trek.  If any Star Wars movie used it,  I missed the movie, as I haven't seen the last few movies in that series.

LOOK, NERDS:

It's not hard. Several people have already mentioned it.

And, it was, of course, a reference to Peter Pan. OLD GUY Captain (and crew) are "young" again.

It's what passes for cultural references... well, not these days, because we don't even have that shared culture. It's what passed for cultural references 20 years ago.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Wow  DID I EVER MISS THAT!   I was thinking of the tv series,  and totally forgot ST5
In my defense,  that really wasn't the best Trek.... ;/

Star Trek, Star Wars...

Is there really any difference in the nerd quotient?

Five was the worst. 6... was not.

Apparently I do need a refresher course in Star Trek.  Yea,  5 was less than "stellar"  and 6 was actually pretty good.
It did inform me that Shakespeare originally wrote his plays in Klingonese. [tinfoil]

Can we switch topics and discuss FIREBALL XL5  while I can still remember my name?
