This policy isn't aimed so much at people who steal mopeds and scooters as it is at gangs who commit robberies and use scooters as their escape vehicles. Apparently the old policy was that if the perps fled, and especially if they took off their helmets, the constabulary would just let them go rather than engage in a pursuit that might result in an injury to one of the little darlings.

ETA Good grief! The exact same video has been linked to three times as if it were an original find.

And Hawkmoon (Reply #1) was right. It wasn't about stealing mopeds per se, it was about scooting away with the loot on mopeds and the police pulling "mini" PIT maneuvers on them.

Meh. It's OK. Nobody reads my crap anyhow, and I watched about a minute of Pink-Tie's soft and squishy horse manure and figured it wasn't really worth commenting on. That's why I remarked on the LEO's comment about transferring the risk to the general population being right at the beginning.

That was the crux, the point, the impact of my post. (I was going to add something about shooting at fleeing felons in regard to the transferring the risk concept, but deleted it.)

A better option is to discourage any kind of resistance to aggression even though there may be innocents robbed and killed.

Be not fooled. Gun control isn't about safety or the children or anything except that the government has the power and doesn't want you to have it.
