Lots of people remember the Nazi War Crimes ....Dr. Mengele, et al.,   but few remember (or knew ... ) the Japanese were guilty of some very horrendous war crimes too.

An example:

To determine the treatment of frostbite, prisoners were taken outside in freezing weather and left with exposed arms, periodically drenched with water until frozen solid. The arm was later amputated; the doctor would repeat the process on the victim's upper arm to the shoulder. After both arms were gone, the doctors moved on to the legs until only a head and torso remained. The victim was then used for plague and pathogens experiments

I took this about a month and a half ago. The toughest part of taking a pic, is getting close to it. That, and steadying your hand when you start thinking about what an important square yard of teak you're looking at.

Actually, that's one of the best actual photos of it I've seen, what with the reflections and the lighting and the raised lettering, etc.  That's why I included the medallion for readability.  Thank you, Calumus !  My hands would shake, too.
