I don't want to screw around learning a whole new system.  Whose "skin" and controls are most like IE 11?

Thanks, that's where I was heading anyhow.  According to what I hear, Chrome has a certain "leakiness," but I suspect this is true of all browsers.

"Leakiness"?

Firefox is the one easiest to get the traditional top menu bar with drop down menus, and a great deal of configuration.  I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a skin and/or addon to make it like IE.

Other browsers seem to be moving to a simplified interface, hiding a lot of what I find useful.

Firmly in the Firefox camp. Tried many others but keep coming back.

I saw something about a DuckDuckGo add on for Firefox - anyone familiar with this?

I like Firefox well enough except recently it's become a little bloated and slow.  Lately I've been alternating between Firefox and an offshoot of it called "Brave".  Brave is a little cleaner, runs a bit faster, and doesn't block some images that Firefox does.  I am using it right now to read APS and make this post.

"...and doesn't block some images that Firefox does."

What sort of images?  Porn or gore or political or what?

Safest site from which to download it?

I am not absolutely against using up time to learn a new browser, but I want to minimize it.

Brave is very similar to Firefox in appearance and operation.  Firefox has been blocking the Twitter portions of threads on Twitchy that are linked to frequently from APS.  Firefox has also been blocking some images on various news sites, even with AdBlock turned off.  This behavior comes and goes with the various updates to Firefox.  Brave is so far behaving itself in that regard.

I'm pretty sure Brave is based on Chromium.

I noticed an interesting feature I want to test sometime.  "New Private Window with Tor".

Safest site from which to download it?

Straight from brave dot com.

(And whatever it was that kept it from installing properly on Debian Linux has been resolved.)

Brave, under the hood, is a Chromium-based web browser which means that its performance and web compatibility is very similar to other browsers based on Chromium.

I use Firefox (and, recently, Waterfox). I haven't noticed any images being blocked.

It hasn't affected me.

Huh, Brave is a Chromium offshoot?  That's the first time I've been wrong all day.
Oh, wait...SWMBO just informed me that I've been wrong all day about most everything.

Due to the university's penchant for making unannounced revisions while concurrently avoiding consistency and compatibility at all costs, I use IE, Chrome, and Firefox in rapid rotation. They each have their quirks but the learning curve is pretty gentle for all. Honestly I'd have all of them installed and at the ready just in case you run into compatibility issues.

OK, loaded Brave, it's running.
1. Do I have to reload all my "favorites" manually?

2.  How do I change the font size?  It's too small for the distance I sit at.  IE had a toolbar under "view" for conveniently changing the font size which I usually ran at 200%  Never mind, control + works for now, but is not as convenient as the toolbar in IE.

Maybe I ought to just play with it for a while instead of bugging you guys about it.
