I couldn't sleep last night and Not Another Teen Movie was on CC uncensored.   First time I ever seen that movie and it was pretty funny.

Lots of good choices . . . I'll try to add a few that don't seem to have been mentioned yet:

The Valley of Gwangi -   This was a "serious" movie starring James Franciscus and Gila Golan, with special effects by Ray Harryhausen. Think wild-west cowboy shows . . . gypsy curses . . . and dinosaurs.

Caveman - A comedy with Ringo Starr, Barbara Bach, John Matuszak, and Shelly Long. (Ever see a tyrannosaur get a hotfoot?)

Our Man Flint and In Like Flint - These movies starred James Coburn as Derek Flint, an American superspy who out-Bonded James Bond.

The Ambushers, The Wrecking Crew, Murderer's Row and The Silencers - Based on Don Hamiton's books, Dean Martin plays Matt Helm in these four movies.

There was a movie called something like The Fearless Vampire Hunters . . . I remember a scene when a vamp was about to bite a woman, who held up a crucifix in defense. The vamp's reaction? "Oy vey, have you got the wrong vampire."

Has anyone mentioned Animal House or Stripes yet?

Or the Scary Movie series? (These cheesy flicks are not for viewing in polite company!)

Lots of the others above that were already mentioned.

In Like Flint?  I just saw that and it was atrocious.  We had some good laughs at all the campiness, but the laughter is offset by the pain of watching such an awful movie.

I saw Hot Fuzz last night. From the same people (and featuring the two leads) from Shaun of the Dead. Probably the silliest movie I've seen in a while, and it was really good. Good lines ('Wanna be the big cop in a small town? Well then f*** off up the model village.'), very English and probably the funniest and longest shootout I've seen in a film for a while. Even I was having fun spotting the various different firearms used.

Uncle Buck
Beats the heck out the the "Home Alone" cr@p that was inspired by it.    I am holding the "axe" scene in reserve until my daughter starts dating:
Quote
Buck: You do know what a hatchet is, don't you Bug?
Bug: Its an axe?
Buck: Sort of , yeah, yeah. I've got one in the car of you'd like to see it.
Bug: I'll pass.
Buck: Fair enough. I like to carry it. You never know when you're gonna need it. You know, a situation might come up, for example, someones been drinking and about to drive a loved one home. Then I like to know I have it. Not to kill, no. Just to maim. Take a little off the shoulder... Whiik! The elbow... shave a little meat off the knee cap... Whup! Oooh! You got both knee caps? I like to keep mine razor sharp, too. Sharp enough you can shave with it. Why, I've been known to circumcise a gnat. Youre not a gnat, are you Bug? Wait a minute. Bug. Gnat. Is there a little similarity there? Oooh, I think there is!

Grandma's Boy.  Trust me on this one.

Don't watch it with small children around.

Chris

I'll second that.

It took Michele what, about 30 seconds into the movie to grab Abby and head upstairs? Smiley

Yup, but in my defense, I had no idea it was going to be that crude when I rented it.  Smiley

I don't have much to add most of my choices have been said.  (Office Space, Space Balls, Monty Python)

I love Red Dwarf (T.V. series not movie...its in my collection)

Another must have
Arsenic and Old Lace   That is a must have black comedy.

Don't forget musicals/operas like Pirates of Penzance.

Bringing Up Baby - Watching Cary Grant dash about in frilly house-coat and exclaim "I've suddenly gone gay" is a screamer.

I've actually watched that movie many more times than once. grin

My favorite comedies are Monty Python, Airplane, Pink Panther, Blues Brothers, and Animal House.  I haven't seen a comedy in years that could match the old classics.

Doh!

You actually meant "grail"? Huh. Because it was a Monty Python bit I thought you had it right and it really was "grain" for some humorous reason. Wink

You know, i can't get enough of Young Frankenstein   Frau Blucha!

Someone mentioned the South Park movie.  I'll add Team America.  There aren't a lot of movies out there I can say I'd like to see more often, but that I can't because I risk organ damage from laughing so hard.  I almost lost consciousness in the movie theater.  My ribs hurt just thinking about it! grin
