IIRC, the Army pushed out Firebirds as our version of Top Gun. Just no....
While the original may have helped put me in the Navy, I'll pass on this one. Looks terribly unrealistic. Maybe watch it on DVD just to see my old ship. The old ship on which I hear cruise was a complete ass to the crew while filming.
Was.that that gawdawful helicopter movie with Tommy Lee Jones and Nicolaus Cage?
Weren't the planes you were working on when you were Reserve the "enemy" planes in the first one?
Other planes in my reserve wing yes. VFC-13 still flies F-5 tigers like in the original. Bought them back from the Norwegians just to have parts. I worked on the evil F-18 Sukhoi wannabe. And this is how I know any realistic top gun movie would be about as boring as NPR. Getting drunk at Jack's in Fallon and then processing endless Captain's mast on all your squadron kiddies that did all that and more.
Whatever. The Army had to put up with Hurt Locker, you squids can spot us some inaccurate popcorn fodder.
Isn't this the truth of the vast majority of "realistic" movies? If you're going to the movies and are expecting reality, you really need to rethink your entertainment choices.
^^^About that, I thought there were no longer any flyable F-14s in the world outside of Iran. All of ours were chopped up to avoid being a parts source for Iran.
Generation Kill FTW.Just watched the trailer, might actually have to see that one.Love the F14 part.
1000% agree on GK as far as accurately depicting military life.

Well they didn't even askKelly McGillis says she wasn't asked to return for 'Top Gun: Maverick'https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/kelly-mcgillis-top-gun-maverick
Uh .... you DID see the photo of her on p. 1? The c.g.i. to make her attractive would cost more than a Jurassic Park movie... Ok, that was cruel. I'm sorry. A little.
I posted that photo
