Funny weather report:
« on: July 19, 2019, 09:53:01 PM »
Phrasing.

"Temperatures were in the low one-hundreds today."

Jeeze, I hope so. As opposed to the high one hundreds.

No kiddin', though, it's really been hot in Denver for a couple of days.

ETA:
I figured I'd better add "As opposed to the high one hundreds."

It's about the same temperature here* (low to mid 90's) as in Houston, Texas.  But our humidity is much higher today (it's ridiculous)  I think the dew point is about 80.  Was going to ride my bicycle to work today.  Stepped outside and immediately said "Nope".

I almost did a spit take when I heard that.

No kiddin' though, it's been darned hot for a couple of days here in Denver.

Our heat index is running 110 and up.

I walked a long 80 of soybeans today, knee boots due to the mud. It sucked. It was 91 when I started at 10:30am.

A long 80 is 1/2 mile by 1/4 mile rectangle, long side going north south, short side east west.

Walked it, what?  Spraying Roundup by hand?  (shirley not)  Whatever, it sounds like it would have sucked bigtime today. :(  I just went outside for a few minutes; was immediately drenched and I'm not sure if it was sweat or dew.

There's your problem.

Start earlier.  The whole siesta thing makes sense, if you've got to assume it's too hot to work after mid day.

I was stuck under several trucks today (a set of wet brake lines/stuck caliper and troubleshooting another's AC.  fun times.   I don't have the slightest bit of sympathy.

Looking for herbicide injury, too muddy for a UTV so I had to walk the whole thing.

2 hour drive to the farmer's house, 1/2 hour of meet, greet and paperwork. I would of started earlier but the day before was a 12 hour day of the same thing.

Even mowed 5000 sq ft of lawn with a push mower when I got home, front yard was getting shaggy.

Our heat index was 128 a few days back along with a humidity above 50%.
I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!
