Thread Drift
« on: April 13, 2020, 03:01:15 PM »
Something to think about:

What is "Thread Drift?" Thread drift is the best indicator of how everything in nature, society, and life in general is connected and interdependent. A virus escapes from China and the world economy gets shut down. The shutdown of the economy creates long lines of hungry people at food banks because they cant afford to go to a grocery store. The long lines enhance the spread of the virus. Grocery stores are running out of food to sell because the shutdown of the economy has closed businesses that supply the grocery stores. People go nuts and hoard things like toilet paper.

Governments pay out 'stimulus' money to help bolster the economy. All this does is put too much money out there to buy too few products and you get hyper inflation. (NOTE: Those 'stimulus' checks are just an opportunity to spread the wealth - one of best tools the left has to install socialism.)

"Thread Drift" helps you put two and two together and opens your eyes to what is truly going on in the world. Just as form follows function, actions follow cause. Means predict the ends.

So, you start out discussing viruses. That inspires someone to mention something about ebola in Africa. Someone else remembers the Elan they took on an African safari 20 years ago. That inspires someone else to remember the girl he dated twenty years ago. As for me, I never had much fun whenever I dated back then. I was more interested in cars. Except for the Edsel, of course. Speakin' of a course, anyone taken a Spanish course lately? Eh ... Yeah.

Speaking of thread drifts,

Is anyone getting more of their honey-do lists done?  I'm not.  Stay at home orders + reduced work hours + home schooling = not doing much of anything else.

What kind of van are you looking for? I suggest one with "If this van's a rockin', don't come a knockin' " painted on the side.

I'm getting exactly the same amount I always did... we were homeschooling already, so the only difference is I am in a "no go" area of the house for the children, but they get to see me more often during work hours.

I am enjoying the Fender app that was offered for 3 free months during the lockdown. I'm almost through one of the 5 tracks already. (I'm not a beginner guitar player, but I am not great either.)

Anyone else increasing their skill set this enforced home-stay?
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet was the night
Softer than satin was the light
From the stars

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet were her eyes
Warmer than May her tender sighs
Love was ours

Ours a love I held tightly
Feeling the rapture grow
Like a flame burning brightly
But when she left, gone was the glow of

Blue velvet
But in my heart there'll always be
Precious and warm, a memory
Through the years
And I still can see blue velvet
Through my tears

She wore blue velvet
But in my heart there'll always be
Precious and warm, a memory
Through the years
And I still can see blue velvet
Through my tears (Blue velvet)

9 replies to this thread topic and nobody has suggested detcord, I am seriously disappointed.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. I sort of am.  I'm avoiding big new-development tasks that will require materials I don't have, but am getting a lot of cleaning, organizing and maintenance done.

I've got a list for it.  30 days, and each day has a task which should ideally take less then an hour or two.

Yes, already blew through my remodeling/fix it budget for the spring. Amazing what gets done when you got idle hands and power tools.
