Spark plugs
« on: August 15, 2020, 11:40:37 PM »
I need a spark plug for an undisclosed application, with a 10mm thread, as long of a reach as possible, and no resistor. That's it. However, I have found out that spark plug part numbers are meaningless, and manufacturers only catalog them by the application, like by the actual car that uses it. I can't find any way to look up spark plugs by their actual physical characteristics. Does anyone happen to know a spark plug that fits this description?

Oh sure, just get an NGK CR9EH-9 and call it good.

Actually, I take it back, that might be a resistor plug.  Checking.

Take a look at the NGK C7E.  No resistor, 10mm thread, 3/4 of an inch reach.

Perfect. How did you find it? Do you have a book or something?

After 19 years, I can still remember that my 1999 CR125 took a BR9EH plug...

No, summit racing just has a particularly good search engine for features like this.

I'll admit to a polite curiosity of what you're building though.  The specified characteristics suggest some kind of an electrical pass-through into a pressurized (or vacuum) container.

My first thought too.  Fusor?

That's a resistor type spark plug, he needs one without a resistor.

Longest extended reach electrode I can find in non-resistor is 19mm. It's a gasketed design.

Are you dead-set on 10mm threads? You can get 25mm with other thread sizes.

Or the wrong amount of ammonium nitrate for the biggest boomer.

Propane and oxygen is about as loud as acetylene and air.  I would not trust an acetylene and oxygen cannon; that might can actually go high-order.  C2H2 and O2 soap bubbles and balloons are kinda fun.
