It is possible it was something that was just never talked about (among boys at least), but I don't remember the school providing that stuff when I was a kid.  People complain the schools are trying to take over parenting, but it seems a lot of people are fine with that when it comes to feeding the kids and buying "supplies" for them.

Just filtering down. The Feds have been doing that in some selected agencies* for a while now. About a year before I retired the Veterans  Affairs had started placing feminine hygiene products in ALL of the rest rooms, men's, women's, family and even the Nursing Mothers room.
