I haven't watched the Olympics in going on three decades now. I guess I'm not missing anything, as they seem to be going full Idiocracy with break dancing now a sport.
I'm probably in the minority, but I DON'T regard subjectively judged events to be true competitive sports. Running, speed skating, weightlifting, biathlon, shooting, sure, these and many others are judged objectively and measured. But having a panel of judges pick a winner? No. I haven't believed in this since I saw an Olympic "boxing" match years ago in which an American boxer beat the snot out of a Russian - and lost. Or the time a female US gymnast lost to someone from the Soviet bloc even though the latter actually
fell off the equipment. Sure, huge amounts of talent and training in things like gymnastics mean the participants' athleticism is incredible . . . but a competitive sport? No. Not in my book.
. . . Literal truth... Seattle Mariners players have had as many testicular ruptures as they have had playoff appearances.... 5 each.
It's somewhat disturbing that you have information like that at your fingertips . . . I am NOT going to ask why/how you know this.
