I continue to be perplexed that these morons can never put it together that there are basically two choices for this crap. 1) Give your $20/hr worker who is assembling a $20 widget $50/hr, then charge $45 for the widget, or 2) Not raise prices and go out of business. There have been various California elected scamficials beating the drum for a $30, $40, or $50 minimum wage for a couple of years now. I think some Chicago-area scamficial was also advocating for the same thing.

My theory is they're not really serious about that. They just want to bring up the topic of conversation so they can say to the meth heads, deadbeat dads, crack 'hos, welfare moms, and everyone else in their districts that "SEE! I HAVE YOUR BACK! I'M A MAN OF THE PEOPLE, FIGHTING BIG CORPORATE WHITEY TO GET YOU YOUR FAIR SHARE!"

It's systemic vote buying without actually having to expend any capital.

And 9 times out of 10 it actually works, because the people supporting these scamficials were stupid to begin with and are even supider now that they've cooked what little brains they have with various substances.

Essentially, the unions that have contracts that are tied to multiples of the minimum wage are really hoping for a boost. They don't care about Joe BurgerFlipper - they just want their union members to make more, so that the union makes more.
