This could have gone in several threads

I saw a snippet on the TV where they quoted Mike Johnson of semi-approving of it as the "best we could expect". Sad state of affairs.

And now a motion has been introduced to remove Johnson from the Speaker role.

I'm not sure that is the best way to go. I'm not happy he approved the budget without fighting harder to remove crap like what is posted above, but he's been pretty good in other areas, and who else are they gonna get? Nobody farther right than him will get approved, which means it's likely we'd get a milquetoast candidate that will fold on more stuff.

It's almost as if a foreign power has taken over much of our institutions and is using them against Americans, and in favor of those who are a detriment to our society.

But that sounds too much like a conspiracy theory, so it must not be true.

I really love it when cancel culture backfires. Especially when it's arrogant, dumbshit celebrities. Recall that various musical artists demanded that Joe Rogan be cancelled from Spotify, or they'd take their balls and go home. Rogan stayed, they left. Now they're back because they were losing too much money.

https://twitchy.com/amy-curtis/2024/03/23/joni-mitchell-returns-to-spotify-n2394301

Sadly, it's people like Rogan and Musk who have the FU money and clout (and IDGAF) to avoid being cancelled. These morons hurt far too many people without the resources to defend themselves.

Oh no it gets better

They self-diagnose and then go annoy the *expletive deleted*ck out of doctors until they find one that agrees so they can wear their mental illness like a *expletive deleted*ing BADGE.

What's really striking is the trend by age, across all of those categories. The kids are not OK.

Well, they got to Easter Eggs. Excuse me, I mean "gesture eggs".

A not-insignificant number of Christians would be happy to have both "Easter" and eggs disassociated with the Paschal season.

I'm not necessarily against Easter eggs, but I'm not sure it would be a bad thing if non-believers stopped trying to celebrate holidays they don't believe in or don't understand. Perhaps gesture eggs would be more appropriate for those people.

So does that mean you're not painting up your Easter eggs in drag and worshiping them? Heathen!

Only the chocolate eggs and bunnies.   :P

Seems to me an incredibly stupid thing to say if you are connected with a company that profits from sales during Christian holidays.

No religion oriented stuff allowed at the weekend celebration at the White House this weekend. The Easter celebration.

Then cancel the whole thing. Have a vernal equinox soiree or something.

It's a celebration with nothing to celebrate. No wonder suicide rates are through the roof.

A few years ago, it was "offensive" to suggest that the homos are chomos. Now, we're about six months away from M.A.P. being added to the LGBTQIA, and the rest of the letters. At that point all of the pedos will be wrapped in the warm embrace of the rainbow battle flag.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't both the bunny and the eggs remnants of the spring fertility calibrations that stuck around when pagan celebrations were kinda mushed into Christian celebrations?  Much like the tree wasn't originally a "Birth of Christ" symbol?

That said, I kinda agree with Perd here: If you aren't a Christian, don't concern yourself with how they celebrate their holidays, and don't try to muscle in on them and then change them to be more "inclusive".
