It was sort of partly cloudy before it got dark.  Some more thin clouds moved in.  Even the moon is obscured.

It was cool in astronomy terms. Absolutely fascinating in terms of people's overblown and wholly unrealistic expectations.

On a co-worker's FB feed last night... "We can't see the Bethlehem star but we can see Jupiter and Saturn and some moons. So cool but can't wait for the real Star!!!!!!!" (copy and paste right from their post). When someone replied that the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn were the "Christmas Star", they argued it. And quite vociferously, I might add.

One of SWMBO's friends got some cool pics through their telescope. Not the super-sharp stuff I'm seeing floating around the web this morning, but impressive enough for back yard work.

We couldn't see anything, it was much too overcast here last night.  That didn't stop us from heading out to my favorite county park and doing some rainy and windy hiking.  It's going to be much more clear this evening so I'm planning on heading out again around sunset.
