The crazy thing is there’s a fine idea here — avoid obscure acronyms — and a plausible one — this might be especially helpful to non-English speakers — but now every argument must be expressed in terms of a relationship to white supremacy, so you say something ridiculous.

This reflects my initial thoughts.  I think acronyms are used far too often and end up becoming an insider language.  However, they can't just do it for that reason, they have to say it is due to white supremacy.  Then they still say the department name is SFUSD Arts Department.
