R-134A
« on: July 10, 2021, 07:22:12 PM »
For some reason it is taking a crazy jump like R-22 did years ago. If you do your own stuff you might want to pick some up.

Last one I got at work was $150, a month ago. I don’t know how much of this is the bunny squeezers and government’s doing vs COVID but this fuckery is really pissing me off. R-134a isn’t perfect but it was cheap, effective, and once you figured it’s quirks out it was easy to work with. Tools for it are cheap.

The replacement R-1234 is not cheap either and takes a whole new round of equipment.

Been thinking I needed to buy a few pallets of the DIY auot parts store canisters and wait for the govt to ban it. I may be too late. I know where a big ol cylinder of R-22 sits though.

Okayfine - I haven't seen it.

We still have our generic R134a at $6.99/12 oz.

Pigs are more, but you have to have certs to buy them. Maybe someone was bootlegging one?

How much do you need? Check  your local O'Reilly Automotive?

$407 is what I see at one place. $257 from Doug, nick.  I got my last 30lb jug from a farm store for $99.

Basically, you can buy small cans, under two pounds.

Any "auto shop" has to have someone certified if they want to buy a pig.

I would need to dig around to around to find my card. I set up my accounts years ago.

The "back room" guy at your local O'Reilly's should likely still have your data/number on file.

Pigs are two benjies at my store, but we can go way low for commercial customers with the proper certs...

I would need to dig around to around to find my card. I set up my accounts years ago.

I had to get a replacement card from MACS for $10 but the test is only $25 online.
