I picked up Shazam a couple months back but never quite got the itch to watch it. Being a DC property I kinda figured it would be a schlocky money grab. Finally gave it a spin this weekend and it's actually pretty good. Cute, heartfelt, solid storyline, and genrally a fun watch. It won't win any Oscars but there are certainly worse ways to spend an evening.
One big surprise is sound design. It's amazingly good, especially if you have a solid subwoofer setup. I've watched much bigger-budget blockbusters that weren't as impressive.
