For the basic stuff, I am not sure what the point is, but if they have so many cases the personnel cannot review them all, I can see a computer program being used to sift through and identify the ones worth pursuing. However, they mentioned "dissent against the state" at one point and that sounds like something I want kept far away.
As with any new technology, garbage in leads to garbage out. Govt will likely try to carry it too far.
I heard one comment on a livestream that China seems to like putting out press releases bragging about using/developing high level technology. There are rarely stories later bragging about how well it worked.
