Boeing's chief test pilot for the 737 Max has been acquitted of charges that he lied to the FAA and to prospective customers about the MCAS system that caused two 737 Max crashes.

Depending on which article you read, Forkner comes across as either an innocent dupe, or a crass liar. Not sure which view is correct, but the jury only deliberated for two hours so it would seem that the people who actually saw the evidence and listened to the testimony didn't find the case to be very convincing.

The guy who was CEO of Boeing during development of the 737 MAX was not highly regarded by the rank and file at his previous employer. (And that's quite an understatement.)

I wonder how much Boeing "saved" by having the MCAS take data from only one of the two angle-of-attack sensors, and then NOT making the angle-of-attack sensor disagree warning standard equipment. However much they "saved" going it, the cost of corrections and retrofits, plus loss of business and damage to the company's reputation absolutely dwarf whatever they "saved."
