It's always amused me to do a thought experiment on what might happen if the United States suddenly returned "heritage Mexico" to Mexico.

Realistically, what does everyone think would happen?

Roving bands going from farm to farm to take them over, and killing all the white families there in the process?

Ben beat me to the punch, but yeah, I imagine it would look something like Rhodesia and South Africa, with Latin flair.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of Venezuela after the "Glorious Chavez Economic Miracle!" in which it took about 3 seconds for everything to go to absolute *expletive deleted*it.

That was, however, just long enough for a socialist apologist writer for Slate or Wired to crow about how glorious a miracle the people's revolution was...

David Sirota. He wrote the article for Salon. And, as far as I know, he's NEVER once addressed the reality after he wrote oh so lovingly about the fantasy.

Much the same happened in Zimbabwe under Mugabe when the white-owned/run farms were seized and awarded to Mugabe's cadre.

What? You don't have any farming experience? Have two! Sit back and DOUBLE your income as the profits flow! In reality Zimbabwe quickly went from being known as the breadbasket of Africa, a net exporter of food (by a wide margin) to a nation that couldn't grow enough food to feed its own people.

Wasn't there people there before Mexico?

That's the entire point of Atlzan... that was the Aztec homeland, the glorious land before the modern construct of Mexico was conceived.

That was the entire basis of the Chicano heritage mythology... because that's what it is, mythology. There's virtually NOTHING to back up the claims that most of what the Atlzanians want to claim in the United States was ever... anything... even remotely related to the Aztecs.

So, based on that fantasy, I wonder if De Selby has made personal reparations and apologies to the native Australians by willingly surrendering everything he has and has made for himself because it is all based on land and resources stolen from the natives.

NO? Because.... reasons... and it's different?

OK.

I was wondering about the Aztec tie-in since they were down in Mexico City.  I have heard the mythology was they moved down from the North somewhere.  I guess they imagine they came from California or New Mexico?

Finder keepers.  "Native Land" only counts if you were on it right before the White Man came and they were gone already.   =)

Are the Aztecs another one of those gentle Native American cultures that lived at peace with Nature and all their neighbors?

I hear so much about those cultures and the utopia the Americas were before the arrival of the Evil Europeanstm

Yep, never so much as a cross word between them.

Then the gringos came and ruined everything!

Yeah, just go watch Mel Gibson's Apocalypto movie.  You can see how peaceful and generous the Aztec people were.  So generous all the other people around them gladly helped a few hundred Spanish kill them all.

And remember, slavery did NOT exist in the new world until evil white men transported Africans to start American in 1919... or 1019... or whatever bullshit they're claiming.

Pedantic moment: those were Mayans.
