What’s the skinny on Tisas 1911’s?
« on: January 05, 2023, 01:44:58 PM »
Been seeing these around the web and was wondering if anyone had any experience with their 1911’s?

I've got this one in 9mm.

I've handled several different models in gun stores and was mildly impressed with their build quality and youtube reviews were overwhelmingly positive

I've only got about 225 rounds through it but so far it hasn't missed a beat with RN and some Armscor JHPs, not a single malfunction.
Fit and finish is considerably better than what you might expect in a gun in this price range. I'm a fan of budget 1911s and have 3 Rock Islands that are also solid performers that I like very much but based on my limited data and sample size I think the Tisas is a step above. Time and round count will tell though.

I don't think you could go terribly wrong at that price.

I'm still toying with the idea of getting a Rock Island in .38 Super.

Unfortunately Tisas doesn't offer .38 Super, only 9 and .45.

I picked up a Tisas full size 1911a1 in 45.  Cost was $324 at that time, plus transfer fee.

I have not shot it much.  I'm pretty happy with the build quality.

I got the 1911-A1 last year.  Shoots well.  Only reliability issue is it doesn't seem to like HP ammo.  100% with 230 grain FMJ.

I saw some pretty good pricing on models with Novak sight cuts.  Tempting, but not where I need my money to go right now.
