You guys think the Dems will really nominate Manchin? I wouldn't think so.

Maybe if he starts really, really hating Israel?

She already getting her first delegate pledges.
They think she pretty much has this locked up.

I said it several months ago: I think the Dems know they are too far down the intersectional racial politics hole to push Kamala aside, and they know it.

Are they?

Left-wing racial panic was at its height in 2020, when they nominated Biden, totally ignoring all the racial baggage in his past. Harris tried raising that at the debate, and it was quickly forgotten.

Post-Dobbs, choosing a woman might matter more now than in 2020, but Harris is hardly the only woman they could nominate.

I think they are, yes.  But I'm not in the DNC Hive mind.

I will say there's a big difference between not picking a minority like they did in 2020, and pushing an already picked minority aside, like they would need to do now.

Now they don't even have the cover of Primary Elections to pretend like the voters are the ones who really want the white guy.  I think if they dump her now, they will have a really difficult time getting the younger, activist base interested in whomever the replacement is.

I guess we'll see in Chicago what they do.

Perhaps I'm being overly generous by suggesting the DNC recognizes 2024 as a lost cause, is laying out a sacrifice, and saving the undamaged goods for 2028.

Prediction: Harris doesn't make the first cut at the convention. Havoc ensues. The wife of a former president steps up and volunteers, "for the good of the country."

And to start to get rid of all of those deplorables.

Well, they are one of the only lefty big names who have not backed Harris yet, so it's certainly plausible.

So now the election has come down to choosing between someone many are calling a "former" call girl and someone who knows all about call girls. Sound about right?

It is unlikely that the DNC will choose a second female to run with Harris for one simple reason.
Have you ever known 2 power-hungry women to either agree with each other or work together without friction and animosity?

I don't.

Kamala Harris' social anxiety:

https://www.axios.com/2024/07/22/biden-kamala-harris-election-chances

Quote
Between the lines: Harris has been cautious and reluctant to participate in events that weren't tightly controlled, Harris and Biden aides said.

In 2022, the White House internally pushed Harris to be the headliner for D.C.'s traditional Gridiron Dinner, but she resisted. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo did it instead.

Quote
In April 2022, Harris was the guest for a dinner at D.C. news mogul David Bradley's home — a salon-style event Bradley hosts with Washington journalists and newsmakers.

Harris' anxiety about the dinner was such that her staff held a mock dinner beforehand, with staffers playing participants, according to two people familiar with the event.
Harris aides even considered including wine in the mock prep so Harris could practice with a glass or two.
They ultimately decided against it.

That would explain the nervous laughter and her odd attempts to relate to Earth creatures.

I feel so much better about her being a great President with a commanding presence at diplomatic functions after reading all of that.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

This is taking off like wildfire across the social medias. I will certainly wait for background and context, but I'm not sure what that could be. If it's trolling, it doesn't seem well thought out if he's at the same time distancing himself from the Project 2025 thing. It sure sounds like "old style" Trump putting his foot in his mouth: "Just get out and vote this time, then you won't have to vote ever again."

https://youtu.be/FOGTCKQklPQ

Edit: I will say that looking just now, neither CNN nor even MSNBC are mentioning this, but places like the ABC link above are pushing it all over the place.

It is Biden who backed out of the debate, and Harris wanted to debate J.D. Vance, remember?

I think both debates should happen as agreed or proposed. It is only fair.

Doesn't the Harris team agree that Joe Biden is fully capable of being President of the United States, and Joe Biden himself claimed in his withdrawal address that he believes he would have made a great president for the next four years. Biden and Harris are a team, the team agreed to the stipulated conditions, and the debates should go forward as planned.
