I thought it was cool too.  Looks like max range is 68m, though, which seems a little tight.

According to something my LGS posted this morning, there will be three models, so maybe the higher end will have longer range:

Quote
DRS Thermal
In addition to offering the night vision DRS, Holosun offers a thermal option with 3 models available. The standard model offers 2 reticle options with 1024×768 resolution at 50 FPS. As you move up in the models, you’ll have up to 5 thermal image modes and can increase thermal sensor resolution by 33%. The DRS Thermal uses the same MRS as the night vision model, as well as daylight/night vision settings and window size. Battery life on these ranges from 10-20 hours depending on model, and will be a popular option for coyote and pig hunters.

With my Super Hogster thermal, I can easily make out cattle over 1/4 mile away. However for what I would use one of these combo sights for, that 68M might be okay. Mainly to do "threat scans" for a bump in the night without having to switch between a thermal and the carbine.

Fletcher Rifle Works Open Top 11/22 Receiver
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2023/01/23/fletcher-rifle-works-open-top-11-22/

Quote
Fletcher Rifle Works has been working on a rimfire receiver system that is compatible with the full gamut of Ruger 10/22 parts. The Open Top 11/22 receiver is much more accessible for cleaning than a classic 10/22 receiver. The top-cover, bolt, and charging handle can be much more easily removed for cleaning meaning your mounted optic won’t need re-zeroing.

I guess I will have to see what the cost is.  I like the idea.  Not sure it will be worth the probable cost increase.

Zenith Tease New 5.56 Roller-Delayed Rifles AND More!

More domestic HK clone rifles might be pretty interesting.  Sounds like they won't be cheap, but a lot of stuff is more expensive these days.

Not the first 45-70 derringer out in the market.
There's some YT videos showing people shooting them and yeah, it hurts.

Two Reintroduced Leverguns From Marlin – 1894 and 336
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2023/01/27/shot-2023-two-reintroduced-leverguns-marlin-1894-and-336/

I guess we all expected Ruger to get around to these models.  I hope they manage to get enough numbers made that we can actually see one at a store.

I was hoping Ruger would figure out how to make an inexpensive 336 model.  It seems they are still just reintroducing all the old Marlin models so all new stuff might take a while.

I have shot a Colt carbine from the early 1980's.  This looks almost identical.

The Baby KSG is Here! The .410 KSG Shotgun
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2023/01/28/shot-2023-baby-ksg-410-ksg-shotgun/

Quote
the .410 KSG manages to bring something to the table in that its smaller barrel and tubes make this version of the KSG much smaller and lighter than the original 12 gauge KSG.

I don't have anything in 410 gauge.  I guess it depends on just how small and light this version is.  The capacity might be less also.

Palmetto State Armory’s “Duty Grade” Sabre Rifle Series
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2023/01/27/shot-show-2023-palmetto-state-armorys-duty-grade-sabre-rifle-series/

Quote
New for 2023, PSA is introducing a higher end series of ARs with nicer components and several upgrades out of the box. The new Sabre series rifles have features such as cold hammer forged barrels, improved controls and upgraded charging handles. They will also be available with milspec style forged receivers, or billet receivers with improved ambidextrous controls.

I will be curious to see what the reviews say later on.

Okay.

MSRP of $495.  Eventually, the street price might be pretty low.  That makes it more tempting to try out.  More competitive with Mossberg 410 pump shotguns.

Capacity:  5+5+1.  Not terrible.

Weight:  5.4 lbs.  That is pretty light.

Yeah, Kel-Tec products due to limited supply and high demand often go for more than MSRP for a while after being released.
After things settle down I would guess a street price in the $400-450 range assuming production keeps up with demand.

The guy said they'll be doing them as build kits as well. I would be interested in that. I like that it will be full ambi.

The ZEV/Magpul Folding Defensive Carbine (FDC) is Almost Here
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2023/01/28/shot-2023-zev-magpul-folding-defensive-carbine-fdc-almost/

This is fairly interesting mainly due to how compact it folds up.  However, it sort of looks like a Glock with a fold out stock and a few carbine features added.

The other 9mm carbine that rotates looks more interesting.  The Pivot folding 9mm Carbine.

And just in time for the new brace rule......

Palmetto State Armory Krinkovs
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2023/01/19/shot-2023-palmetto-state-armory-krinkovs/

Quote
New for 2023 from Palmetto State Armory are AKS-74U (a.k.a. Krinkov) style pistols. PSA brought to SHOT Show 2023 the versions of their new Krinkovs chambered in 5.45x39mm and 5.56x45mm, which will be the first to hit the shelves, however, they will also be offering these pistols chambered in .300 Blackout and 7.62x39mm. The PSA Krinkovs are completely made in-house and will be available in Q1-Q2 2023.
The caliber choices are interesting.

Kel-Tec R50 Rifle

Quote
Also new from KelTec is their R50, a 16″ barreled rifle version of their P50 5.7×28 pistol, complete with a folding stock that attaches to the bottom of the grip

Apparently they also have a rifle conversion kit with barrel and stock.  I didn't realize they had that.

New No-Baffle Vanquish Suppressors from Angstadt Arms
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2023/01/28/shot-2023-new-no-baffle-vanquish-suppressors-from-angstadt-arms/

These suppressors look like a full length barrel with ports and a shroud around it to catch the gasses.  I couldn't see whether the rifle goes all the way out to the end of the barrel or not.  The comments about velocity make me think it does.  Looks like the ports can be plugged to tune velocity with your particular ammo.

This is "radically new?"

Hogwash.

I remember reading decades ago that Francis Gary Powers (the downed U-2 pilot) had a suppressed Hi-Standard .22 as part of his survival kit. The pistol had a bunch of holes drilled in the barrel which  was wrapped in steel wool with a shroud over the wrappings. Back in the '70s Ciener was suppressing Marlin .22 rifles with a shrouded and ported barrel, with the suppressor extending beyond the barrel to form an expansion chamber at the end - instead of steel wool, he used small brass eyelets for packing. The details may differ in some small ways, but I'm pretty sure there were still others doing more or less what Angstadt is doing now.

So I guess what's old is new again.

And the MP5SD uses a similar set-up.  Maybe the new part is that the ports can be blocked to improve velocity.
