Turkey just issued a slew of arrest warrants, including for contractors.

Death toll now at 28,000.

I doubt the politicians who profited will be arrested.

Seeing video of buildings just collapsing and realizing it wasn't some sort of controlled demolition is pretty horrible.

Some reports saying it could reach 50k

I originally said 25,000 - 30,000, but the more I read, the more I see, and the more I realize just how crappy Turkish construction is (for some reason I assumed they were a bit more modern than they are)... yeah, won't be surprised to see it hit 50,000.

The death toll had reached 49,000 as of two days ago.  I would imagine your prediction has come true by this point.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

Yikes. I'd lost track of this story.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

This was the most interesting story about the Turkey quake I've seen or heard. Thanks for posting.

And some idiot will claim coastal erosion like this never happened before man made climate change.

I changed the video link for a shorter version. NBD.

I suspect you're right except they'll say "Trump" instead of "man."  Can't miss a chance for repetitive impacts, you know.  That's how perceived truths are established.
