Taliban uses gun registry to hunt down regime foes
« on: March 03, 2023, 12:43:24 PM »
This certainly isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened.  I know it occurred in occupied countries during the Second World War.

I recall reading a story from Larry Pratt about Nazis who went searching for registered guns in conquered territories.  If you couldn't produce the gun, they would shoot the whole family.  Belgium, if I remember correctly.

Unfortunately, the USA has an incomplete defacto gun registry, since the USA has been digitizing its Form 4473s.  Reputedly, these forms are claimed to be "not an illegal registry" because they are not searchable to by name... and yet, they could easily be modified to do this.

Everyone reading this thread should take a look at this:

jpfo dot org is a good site and you don't have to be Jewish.

I subscribe tp their "Alerts," and usually get info from there before I browse the gun sites.  Note the "usual," which may be due to my internet habits.

For decades I've been saying the 4473 is a registration form.

For decades I've been saying the 4473 is a registration form.

Of course they are but they are "kept" by the store - at least, until that store closes.  Then BATFE takes them and that is where it get really troubling.
And their "agents" have been observed photographing FFL bound books when they aren't supposed to do that.

For decades I've been saying the 4473 is a registration form.

Oh, get over yourself.  Nobody listens to you.

(Or me.)

I still remember the first proto-4473 when I bought a rifle up in Boulder.  It was just a mimeographed little 8 1/2 X 11 form on one side distributed to the dealers. It was basically an "are you a naughty boy?" form.   I recall having to sign a similar form for ammunition about the same time.

Same old strategy we've never been able to counter.  "They" propose ABCDE and F.  "We" object.  "They" compromise by removing DE and F.

"We" walk away all self-satisfied.

But we're still stuck with ABC.

And as time wears on, they attempt to add GHIJ and K since the principle has been established.

"We" object and they remove IJ and K.

And now we're only stuck with ABCGH.

Huzzah for bipartisanship.

It will never end until they get Z.
