Nebraska's Navy
« on: March 23, 2023, 09:52:23 AM »
I was poking around in Elvis Presley's military career and naturally came across mention of his manager, Colonel Parker.

Got curious about that and found that some political subdivisions have the authority to grant titles to various people for various things like campaign contributions, etc.

Colonel Parker was given the honorary title from Louisiana, but in browsing around I found that many political institutions also award honorary Admiralships.

To my surprise, I found that land-locked Nebraska issued Admiralties in The Great Navy of Nebraska!

The subject of honorary titles is kinda interesting to pursue if-you've-got-nothing-better-to-do (sample):

Admiral Colonel Parker captained a Platt River Gunboat during the great Omaha uprising of '37...
