A map of minimum wage around the world. Despite all the complaining, the US is pretty high up there. Higher than some of the Euro countries that progressives hold up as "models".

There seems to be a pretty interesting delineation where you drop from $1500ish/mo to the $500/mo and below range.

I don't know man. I've been in Central American countries where the cities had unpaved muddy streets, but fast wireless Internet and cell service everywhere. They were able to skip building the whole hardwired infrastructure thanks to first world countries and their tech.

I'm guessing you haven't been anywhere lately.  New, modern, fast cell networks are easier and cheaper to install than our old wired internet.  Easier to update as well.

I was in Cancun two weeks ago.  I had better and faster coverage with my T-Mobile account there than I do at home with T-Mobile.

Our hard-wired infrastructure is more difficult to improve.

I bet the lower minimum wages areas also have lower wages for higher earners too.

I imagine there is some degree of correlation of wage rates and the costs of living.
